Update 1/30/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Well tonight I find myself with a lack of subject material.  But as I was logging into the server to post tonights update a subject came to me.  I guess it is about time to throw in the towel.  No I am not shutting down the site.  What I am referring to is my goal of having the site completely setup by February 1st.  I think since I have two days left it is time to admit to you…..no….admit to myself that this is just not going to happen within the month of time I gave myself.  Believe me, it has not been from a lack of trying.  But I suppose one way of looking at it is that the longer I take to complete this site then the better it will be.

Now as some of you know, I have an animal based website as well at www.journeyoftheanimals.com and tonight I wanted to talk to you for a moment about pet food.  Please make sure you read the ingredients and make sure there are not tons of fillers in there doing no good what soever.  You may or may not know that beans is the number one filler used by cat food manufactures.  Again I bring you photographic evidence.

Update 1/28/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Well hello there.  As you might have guessed I am still sorting pictures.  I am working on dividing the “funny signs” category into sub-category since there was well over 1,000 images in the funny sign category.  I honestly can not even put a date on when I think all of the picture sorting will be done and they will be ready to be uploaded to the site.  I have a few things working against me.  Number one would be the fact that I set that ridiculously high goal of 10,000 images.  I did that because I not only want this site to be good, but I want it to be huge too.  If someone could sit down and view the entire site in a few hours or even a day then I would know it was too small.  The second reason this is taking so long is that I can be a bit of a perfectionist, I blame my mother for that trait.  But I will be sure to keep everyone informed about the development of the site.  Like I have said before I believe, this is turning out to be quite a fun project……frustrating at times but fun.

In closing I would like to tell you about a discovery I made today.  For years mankind has been plagued by missing socks.  You place 3 pairs of socks in the laundry and 2 hours later you remove 2 1/2 pairs from the dryer.  There has been many theories about this mystery.   Everything from blackholes to elf’s has been thoroughly debated over the years.  However I bring you photographic evidence tonight about the true cause of this epidemic.

You thought that felines were only around to look cute, sleep and catch mice?  Well you may want to think again.

Update 1/27/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Well I know there was no update yesterday and I am sorry.  I am sure there are many people out there just climbing the wall to know how I am doing on the site.  Well I do have some good news.  I have completed stage one of the photo sorting.  I now have them all in categories.  However some of the categories are so large that I will have to split them into some sort of sub-categories to make things easier to navigate.  So that is what I will be doing this weekend.  Also after all of my sorting and deleting I find that I am about 300 pictures short of my goal of 10,000 so now I have to come up with 300 more.  So I guess I will be busy this weekend.  But that is OK.  I did not plan on going anywhere since two feet of snow landed this evening.

Update 1/25/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Well sorry I did not post an update yesterday.  But don’t worry I have been working hard on the site.  My current project is still sorting the pictures into categories.  I think that is going to take about 2 more days to complete.  Then comes the fun job of renaming the 10,000+ images.  Lucky for me there are computer programs that will take care of that part.

Currently I have 52 categories but I plan on adding about 5 more to be able to spread out the pictures a little more and make it a tad easier to navigate.  What other site do you know that has nearly 60 categories for their pictures?  Their idea of categories are the months of the year.

There are several reasons I have so many categories.  It will make it much easier for you to navigate only the type of images that interests you.  Plus it makes it much easier on me to make sure there is the lowest amount of repeat pictures possible.  That is after all, a big concern of mine.  I find so many other sites with pictures repeating very often on their site.

Well I suppose that is enough rambling for one post.  But before I leave you tonight.  I want to give you some advice.  I am sure you have heard this from your parents, your teachers and your boyscout troop leader.  But I am going to tell you again.  When someone offers you drugs, “just say no”!  That goes for your pets too.

I want to share something

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Life update

Well normally all I have been posting is “site updates”.  But today I feel like just sharing something that happened to me yesterday.  My son had gone to bed and my fiance and I were watching a show called “Castle”.  It is about a crime novelist who tags along with a detective and helps solve crimes.  Well there was this scene where someone had been killed in a park and then the body was moved.  They were looking at the location where the crime took place and someone said “you see this?  Looks like mud, but it is actually a large amount of blood that has soaked into the dirt to make it look like mud.”

Well at this point my fiance thought that I had lost my mind, because I started laughing to myself so hard that she had to pause the show.  Once I had composed myself enough I was able to udder 1 word.  “mudblood”

Now what is worse here?  The fact that I came up with that really lame reference?  The fact that I found it so funny? Or the fact that I have watched Harry Potter enough to even come up with the reference in the first place?  FML

Update 1/22/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Well I am still working on sorting pictures.  I would say that I did not post an update yesterday because I was up until the wee hours of the morning sorting pictures.  But that would be a lie.  I mean I am working hard on this site but not letting it takeover my life.  However my fiance has probably been shown more photos then she would really like.

So I sorted approx 2,588 photos on Friday and a little less on Saturday.  Honestly I do not feel like figuring out how many I sorted today.  Lets just say it is a lot.  I just checked how many pictures I have left and I wish that I had stopped sorting just a little sooner.  It would have made for an interesting number.  As it is, I have 6,661 files left.

Now here is the part where I say something and then post a picture that is connected to it somehow.  Well tonight is a little different.  I am just posting a picture that I came across in my sorting.  I rather like it because it has two of my heroes in it and no I am not talking about the president.

Update 1/20/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Man, is it the 20th already?  How am I supposed to get this site opened on Feb 1st.?  Oh well, I suppose the world will not end if I do not make my own deadline.  Not much to report today.  I did not do much on the site itself other then get rid of a few spam posts in the comments.  However what I have been working on is sorting all of the pictures into category folders.  This is turning out to be a little bit longer then I thought.  But I should have been expecting it with 18,000 pictures to sort into categories.  Also I do not even know what method I am going ot use to post all the pictures on the site.  So I spent a little time today researching that.  But I am no closer to a decision yet.  Well I better get back to the sorting and I will continue my search for a method tomorrow.

Oh I was also thinking about putting a live chat support link on this site.  But I figure if you need support when you are only supposed to be laughing then you have bigger problems to address.  Besides, the only staff I could find is pictured below.

Update 1/19/11

Posted by: laughmaster  /  Category: Site update

Well Feb. 1st is fast approching.  Some days I feel like I will make the deadline for the site and other days I feel like I still have so much to do.  So today, did I sort the pictures into categories, post all my jokes, compleate the forums?

No, none of the above.  I wrote the bio/about me page.  That is all I managed to finish today and I feel horrible about it.  I mean it was fun to do because I wrote it like I was being interviewed.  I suppose some people may view it as being kind of childish.  But this is a humor site after all and I run the show.  I can do whatever I want!  If you would like to check it out then click here.

I think that is all about i have to share tonight.  But before I go I would like to recommend to anyone out there not using the firefox web browser, you should change over today.  Internet explorer is only good for one thing really.

Update 1/18/11

Well I am happy to announce that today I finished the weird news stories section of the site.  Well sort of finished it.  It currently contains over 100 weird news stories.  I believe that 100 was my original goal for that section, so I am happy with it. I say “sort of” finished it because I do want to change the layout of it and make it a bit easier to navigate and so forth.  But I believe its current state will do just fine for opening day on Feb. 1st.

I am not sure what I am going to do next but it will either be collecting the videos or sorting the pictures into categories.  I think I am going to go with the pictures because collecting all of those weird news stories has wore me out.   But like you really care what I am going to do next huh?

You ever wonder about the “Winnie the pooh” gang?  I mean they all sort of had there own “problems” if you will.  It is kind of hard to explain but I think this picture does just fine on its own.

Farmers leave bare-butt thief hog-tied for cops

CALGARY — Two central Alberta farmers served up some cold hard justice to an alleged fuel thief on their property, leaving him tied up and pantless in the snow until Mounties arrived.

Having fallen victim to a thief at their ranch near Trochu, east of Olds, Alta., a handful of times, Tim Lynch and his son Kris sprang into action Wednesday morning when they were alerted to a truck on the property with similar tire tracks they have seen before.

Kris confronted the man in an attempt to delay him from fleeing and realized the unwanted visitor may have been sitting in a stolen truck.

“He put it in gear and put it to the floor,” Kris said. “I jumped on the running board and held onto the steering wheel and reached in and grabbed the shift stick and held it in park.

“I am yelling at Dad to get the guy out of the truck.”

He managed to get in the truck but the man threw it back into drive and took the pair on a ride across the yard as they struggled.

The truck again stopped, Kris then wrestled with the man to the backseat, avoiding swings of a pry bar, while his dad ran for a rope.

“I got him in a headlock until Dad got the rope around his feet,” he said.

The duo then dropped the man, who was wearing pyjama pants but no underwear, onto the snow and “his bare ass was hanging out,” Kris said.

“We tied it around his ankles and then grabbed another rope and tied his hands up and the police arrived about 40 minutes later,” he said.

The father-son pair said their vigilante justice was just instinct.

“You come across someone threatening your livelihood and family … it’s an instinct,” the elder Lynch said.

“We work with cattle — it works with them so we figured it would work with him.”

Kris said he just wanted to see justice finally served.

“I was just thinking this guy is not getting out of here except in the back of a cop car,” Kris said. “You have to be pretty dumb to steal from a farmer in the middle of the day.”

The man faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and less than $5,000 and theft under $5,000, said Three Hills RCMP Const. Anna Ogden.

Sgt. Patrick Webb advised caution when nabbing a suspect.

“The Criminal Code provides for a certain level of use of force to protect property, but anyone using force … has to be cognizant of the fact they could be charged,” he said.
